Frequently Asked Questions

3D Areola FAQs

Do you offer financing?

We provide CareCredit as a financing alternative for our patients. This option is exclusively available for self-paying patients and is not applicable to insurance coverage. Please click on the provided link to begin the application process.

Does insurance cover my tattoo?

3D Areola tattoos are typically covered benefits under medical insurance plans. Currently, we are in-network with Sharp Community Medical Group. For patients with other insurance providers such as Blue Shield, Blue Cross, Medicare, Aetna, Cigna, Kaiser, United Healthcare, and others, the costs will be out-of-pocket. However, we can support you in seeking reimbursement by providing necessary codes on a detailed invoice ('superbill'). It's important to note that insurance does not cover procedures for scar camouflage or stretch mark camouflage.

Why are 2 sessions required?

During the initial session, a base color and subtle details for the areolas are established. Subsequently, in the second session, additional details and touch-ups are incorporated as necessary. Typically, each session is spaced six weeks apart. The expenses for the second session are typically covered by insurance. For self-pay patients, this cost is encompassed within the initial fee.

Do I ever need to get a touch-up?

Like all tattoos, the ink will inevitably fade over time. When this occurs, typically within 2 to 10 years, you may opt for a touch-up procedure, which may involve a fee.

Is tattoo painful?

Comfort holds significant importance in our procedures. Despite potential post-reconstruction numbness, rest assured that sensations persist. Prior to beginning the process, we ensure patient comfort by applying medical-grade topical numbing cream.

What does the process look like?

In the initial hour-and-a-half session, we review paperwork including consents and pre/post instructions, capture photos, begin the mapping process and color selection, and administer numbing cream before starting the tattooing process. Following the numbing stage, the tattooing procedure begins, concluding with a thorough review of post-tattoo care instructions before your departure.

During the subsequent session, lasting an hour or less, we revisit and finalize earlier paperwork, administer numbing cream, conduct any necessary touch-ups, and ensure a smooth conclusion to your visit.

Stretch Mark Camouflage FAQs

What is the difference between Stretch Mark Camouflage (Ink vs Inkless)?

Instead of ink, these techniques frequently involve using microneedles or specific tools to stimulate the skin, encouraging collagen production and enhancing skin rejuvenation. In some cases, specialized serums or treatments are combined with the process to enhance skin quality and look.

For the ink method, we apply pigmented ink to the targeted areas to blend with the surrounding skin tone, effectively concealing stretch marks.

What happens when I tan?

During your consultation, we will focus on your original base color (not tanned) to select ink(s) that complement your natural skin tone. If you have a tan, tattooing will be avoided unless it's in a discreet location.

For light skin tones with stretch marks, I recommend inkless camouflage to address common areas of concern. Darker skin tones are more forgiving in revealing tattooed ink.

Regarding scars, I use ink to reduce their visibility, especially for scars from procedures like facelifts, tummy tucks, breast lifts, and skin grafts.

Eyebrow Tattoo FAQs

Does it hurt?

Brows are less painful due to the airbrush-like technique we apply, which creates less trauma to the skin vs the blading technique of microblading.

How long do brows last?

Permanent makeup can last for 4-5 years. A touch up is required 6-8 weeks after the initial appointment. We recommend a yearly “color boost” touch-up to maintain the procedure’s color.

How long does the Permanent Makeup procedure take?

An eyebrow appointment typically lasts 90 minutes. We take our time to ensure you get a permanent eyebrow tattoo that looks beautiful and natural.

What is the aftercare for brows?

Aftercare is simple but requires attention for the best brow results. During the first week, apply the ointment to the brows and keep the area clean by avoiding contact. Avoid sunlight, water, and sweating from exercise. Following these instructions is crucial for optimal healing. Check the aftercare page for more details.

What is the healing process?

The color will be darker for the first week because the pigment needs about seven days to settle into the deeper skin layers. After seven to ten days, the top skin layer will peel off, revealing a softer, lighter color. This results in softer, pixelated brows. As the area heals, itching might happen, which is a good sign of healing. Full healing for the eyebrows usually takes six weeks, followed by a touch-up appointment set for 6-10 weeks later.

Lip Blush FAQs

Does Lip Blushing hurt?

Pain levels differ for each person. A strong medical numbing cream is applied before and during your procedure to minimize discomfort.

How long does it last?

Results vary for each individual. After your first session and a touch-up, results usually last 1-3 years. You may need more touch-ups based on personal preference. Permanent makeup ink is different from body art ink and typically doesn't last as long.

What is lip blushing?

A lip blush tattoo defines and enhances your lips. It improves your natural color or adds pigment if needed. Initially, your lips will appear darker, resembling lipstick, but will soften during healing to create a natural tint. A bit of gloss can make your lips kissable!

Can I get lip fillers with lip blush?

You can get filler 4 weeks before or 4 weeks after your touch-up appointment.

Will I still have to wear lipstick? Can other colors still look the same on top?

The final look depends on what you want. The colors I use are natural and blend well. We can enhance your natural color, add more if needed, or create a specific tint while keeping it soft. If you decide to use lipstick later, it will look good over the tattoo, and you can cover it with any color you like.

How long does the procedure take and what should I expect?

The procedure lasts about 2 hours, mainly for consultation and preparation. We’ll discuss your concerns and decide on a shape together before starting. Once we agree on the mapping, we apply numbing cream for 20 minutes, then begin tattooing. You might taste some non-toxic ink during the process, but it's safe to ingest.
